National Bureau of Investigation
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started its probe into the reported illegal sale of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and vaccination slots.
The investigation was requested by Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur S. Abalos.
“I have already given verbal instructions last Friday (May 21) to NBI acting chief Eric B. Distor to order its Cybercrime Division and other relevant units to immediately investigate the alleged illegal sale of anti-COVID-19 vaccines and/or vaccination slots, upon the request of MMDA Chair Benhur Abalos,” Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra said on Monday, May 24.
An organization of lawyers has welcomed the proposal to have violators of health protocols imposed by local government units (LGUs) to just undergo community service as punishment instead of imprisonment or fine.
Persons who are arrested for violating the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) should be penalized only by doing community service, not fine or imprisonment, Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra said on Monday, April 5.
A uniform curfew lasting from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. will be imposed by all 17 local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila starting Monday, March 15.
