With the drive to recover the Louhajang river in Tangail municipal area continuing in full swing, the once beautiful river is gradually returning to its previous shape.

The Madhupur Sal Forest in Tangail, once teeming with diverse wildlife such as peacocks, wild buffalo, and deer, is now facing a devastating impact from deforestation, food shortages, and poaching.

Most of the candidates contesting the upcoming national polls from the six parliamentary seats in Khulna are little known to people, and as such, there is a genuine lack of enthusiasm among the people as election campaigns continue.

Once a trading hub along the banks of the Louhajang river, Tangail was adorned with 27 canals, crisscrossing through the town.

The cutting of the red hillocks in Tangail continues. With the help of people with political influence, soil traders are allegedly cutting and levelling the hills every day. 

Many hilly areas in Tangail’s Ghatail upazila have been flattened due to rampant cutting of red clay hillocks by soil traders allegedly supported by local influential people.
