Travel news latest: Green list countries set to be announced today

Travel news latest: Popular European holiday destinations miss out on ‘green list’ Hugh Morris, Lucy Aspden Grant Shapps has confirmed that international travel will resume on May 17 as he revealed the long-awaited ‘green list’. British holidaymakers will have to wait until later in the summer to visit some of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations, after the Government revealed its “green” list. The USA was a shock omission from the UK’s quarantine-free holiday system, with just 12 countries or territories making the cut, including Portugal, Iceland, Gibraltar and Israel – you can read the full list below.  Spain, France and Italy are among the most popular destinations to miss out on a “green slot”.  The three traditional summer destinations will join the likes of Croatia, Greece and Malta on the “amber” list, meaning a quarantine of up to 10 days on return, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced this evening.
