Tuensang — The youngest member of legislative assembly (MLA) to be elected in the recently held Nagaland general election, Imtichoba Chang of the Republic Party of India (Athalwale), feels that youths are pillars of the state with power to change the world but many are deprived of quality education. Chang, who was born on June 15, 1988 to late Thungpang Chollen and Sentisangla Chang, became an MLA at the age of 34 after winning 2023 Nagaland Assembly election from Tuensang Sardar II constituency. Prior to taking the plunge into politics, the graduate from Sao Chang College, Tuensang, had worked in organisations including Chang Wetoshi Setshang (2014-2017), the erstwhile Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU); Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (2018-2021) and is currently an advisor of Tuensang Village Students’ Union. Our Correspondent Tuensang, Nov. 5 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio on Saturday inaugurated the Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground in Tuensang and attended the opening ceremony of the 30th Loyem Memorial Trophy 2022 as the chief guest. Chang Wetoshi Setshang (CWS) is organising this year’s edition of Loyem Memorial Trophy on the theme “Goal for Friendship” and the tournament is held at the new artificial turf ground in the district headquarters. Speaking on the occasion, Rio pointed out that Nagas are very talented in the field of sports, exemplified by the likes of Olympians Dr. T. Ao and Chekrovolu Swuro, but has failed to produce more such sportspersons due to Naga issue and poor infrastructure. “To lift the society, youths must be uplifted,” he said, while maintaining that commitment and determination are needed to excel in any field of sport and must be a “full time” endeavour. Our Correspondent/ Reporter Tuensang/ Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): The public walkathon called by the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) in all the administrative and district headquarters in eastern Nagaland ended peacefully on Friday with thousands of people in traditional attire hitting the streets at the designated locations in the region, holding placards and chanting slogans to mark the first phase of agitation for Frontier Nagaland statehood. In Tuensang, hundreds of people from various parts of the district converged at the parade ground to participate in the walkathon organised by the ENSF and initiated by Chang Wetoshi Setshang. ENPO, the apex body of seven tribes of eastern Nagaland, had first drafted a memorandum demanding a separate state to the Prime Minister of India in 2010.
