Casualty poll: What did you think about the shock death?
The ED has lost an important staff member.
The coronavirus-focused episode saw the Holby Emergency Department staff facing one of the toughest challenges of their careers, particularly when several staff members became ill with the virus.
The episode ended in tragedy as, while Dylan Keogh (William Beck) and Jacob Masters (Charles Venn) thankfully both recovered from the virus, much-loved receptionist Noel Garcia (Tony Marshall) passed away after contracting COVID-19 - making him the first soap character in the UK to die from the coronavirus. Casualty spoilers follow.
Casualty s Connie Beauchamp is someone we just want to see happy, so we were excited to see her get back with Jacob Masters, who she was with across 2015 and 2016, in the most recently aired episode.
The soap returns this Saturday (January 2) with an episode dedicated to showing just how stressful the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been on the staff, and we wonder if a recently rekindled relationship could carry on under such circumstances especially since Connie will be hugely affected by a death that we ll see on Saturday.
After the COVID episode, she feels that she can t be having a good time and living the high life after what she sees as her failing. She takes the death of one of the team personally. She takes personal responsibility for it and it weighs on her heavily. But then Jacob is around, he is gorgeous and it gets complicated as ever. Nothing is ever straightforward or simple with those two. Charles [Venn] and I fought really, really hard to get Jacob and Connie back together – relentlessly. I don t know what the resistance is. If Charles and I had our way, we would see the white dress and everyone would be buying hats.
