The oldest towboat still on the waters of the Ohio-Mississippi River system, including the Kanawha River, was saved this week when it was bought by Neale Marine Transportation and Fleeting in Vienna, Wood County. The 93-year-old towboat J.S. Lewis departed Kanawha County s Port Amherst — its home port for the past 69 years — and began the journey to its new home during the week of Jan. 22, 2024.
