Grandparents face charges in Boone County teen's death | Legal Affairs

Additional arrests were made on May 20, 2024, in a Boone County, West Virginia case of the body of a 14-year-old girl discovered in an emaciated, skeletal state. Jerry Carter Stone, 75, and Donna Sue Stone, 76 of Morrisvale, Boone County, were charged with child neglect resulting in death.

Justice firm appeal vs. South Charleston company dismissed | Energy and Environment

A federal court dismissed an appeal from one of Gov. Jim Justice s coal companies of a six-figure judgment against it in favor of a South Charleston workers’ compensation and employers’ liability insurance provider. Southern Coal had failed to satisfy obligations under a 2015 contract with the provider, BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Co., a federal judge found.

Former WV delegate Doug Skaff remains hospitalized after being bit by several snakes on May 15, 2024. Skaff was bit 3 times on his left leg and once on his right while removing campaign signs in Boone County. He said a bite on his left leg is now infected. He’s been given anti-venom treatments but added that they didn’t really work. Included here are tips on avoiding snakes from WVU Extension Service Wildlife Specialist Sheldon Owen.
