The move is based on the mob lynching of Charles Bannon in western North Dakota. Bannon was a serial murderer who once worked as a hired hand for the Haven family, whom he killed on their farm in 1931.
The film, called “A Heart like Water,” will make its Grand Forks premiere at 7 p.m. Thursday. From an historical perspective, it tells the story of a husband and wife who must face the elements, sickness and the loneliness that accompanied living in Dakota Territory in 1887.
