Sherrick McManis was a mainstay in Chicago for the better part of the last decade. And to say he’s seen some things in his 119 games played with the Bears would be doing it little justice. But in two tweets, it has become apparent that we’ll be discussing the McManis era in the past tense: Sherrick McManis appreciation post because nobody ever gave him the love he deserved. pic.twitter.com/TloYAvQgNx @Ky1eLong Since day1u always appreciate what I brought2the Team. Mizzou has its most productive NFL Draft class since 2015 Share this story Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports Mizzou was expected to have five players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, and all five heard their names called by the end of the day on Saturday. It was the first time the Tigers had at least five players selected in a draft since 2015, and just the third time the Tigers have had at least five players selected in the last 35 years. Nick Bolton was the first Missouri player selected, hearing ...

After struggling to develop a quarterback he inherited in Mitch Trubisky, the Bears’ coach has a player he scouted from the start of the process, with a better vision of what his offense needs. It’s all up to Nagy now.

Bears first-round draft pick Justin Fields (throwing during Ohio State’s pro day on March 30) said he already feels he’s built a relationship with Bears coach Matt Nagy during the draft process. “I think I fit perfectly” in Nagy’s offense, he said. Bears general manager Ryan Pace’s bold trade to acquire Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields — jumping from 20th to 11th in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night to get him — will give Nag...

METAIRIE, La. -- Myth 1: Teams can readily find top-quality quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott in the middle rounds of the NFL draft. Myth 2: Teams such as the New Orleans Saints can draft a QB on Day 2 or 3, let him sit behind Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill, then develop him to be their future starter. Those ideas sound nice, especially for the Saints, who pick 28th and would have to pay a fortune to trade up for one of this years top five prospects. And it’s not im...

Punters and kickers: 1-19 The difficulty of assigning numbers by position increased last year when practice squads expanded from 10 to 16 players. Its especially challenging for the Bears, whose 14 retired numbers are the most of any NFL team. Only time will tell if any Bears players change numbers. But its interesting to note that: • Receivers Anthony Miller (Memphis) and Darnell Mooney (Tulane) and linebacker Roquan Smith (Georgia) all wore No. 3 in college. They could be ...

Set: Quarterback, Running Back The team has all world quarterback Patrick Mahomes and he’s not going anywhere.  For now, they have Chad Henne at backup and he’s a free agent next year, but this obviously isn’t a glaring need.  Perhaps they could take a future backup QB but then they’d have to carry three on the depth chart.  They also just used a first round pick on Clyde Edwards-Helaire last year, Darrell Williams proved serviceable (especially on passing downs as CEH gets acclima...
