A Basingstoke man has admitted assaulting two police officers last week. Ian Christopher George, of Park Prewett Road, pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Lee Clement and PS Lisa Green in the town last Friday. A charge of assaulting a third officer was withdrawn when the 51-year-old appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Saturday. The case has been adjourned for sentencing, and George will next appear before the same court on July 6. He has been released on conditional bail.
A Popley man has admitted sexually assaulting a woman at the town s train station during a Covid lockdown. Thomas David Harris has indicated a guilty plea after appearing in court charged with sexually touching a woman when she did not consent.

An overnight closure is due to be in place in Green Street on Sunday and Monday. Picture: Google Street View Roads in Enfield are set to be temporarily closed while roadworks are carried out from this weekend. The traffic restrictions are detailed by Enfield Council in notices published in this week’s edition of the
Enfield Independent. Green Street, between Jute Lane and Brimsdown Avenue, is set to be shut overnight on Sunday and Monday, as and when directed by signage. The closure will be in place from 10pm to 5am each day and traffic will be diverted via Green Street, Hertford Road, Nags Head Road and Mollison Avenue.
