SFMO Honors Chattanooga Firefighter And Family For Response During Rutherford County I-24 Shooting Incident Tuesday, April 13, 2021 The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office recognize the heroism displayed by Chattanooga Fire Department Captain Brad Petty (Engine 9, Green Shift), his daughter, Hannah Petty, and his son, Kanan Petty, on March 6, while providing medical assistance to a motorist who had been severely injured during a roadway shooting incident along Interstate 24. TDCI Assistant Commissioner for Fire Prevention Gary Farley presented a plaque along with recognition from Governor Bill Lee to Captain Petty and his family during a ceremony on Monday April 12 in Chattanooga.

One suspect was charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot a La Vergne woman Saturday on Interstate 24, Rutherford County Sheriff’s detectives said Monday. Eye-witness Carl Bauer told WGNS NEWS. The suspect allegedly fired upon the victim from the window of a Cadillac. As for the victim, Detective Joseph Duncan said that 19-Year old Rickiya Compton was listed in critical but stable condition Monday. Duncan, who is with the Rutherford County Sheriff s Office, is the lead investigator.
