Cheetah Relocation Project News Today

Shaurya, a Namibian cheetah who was part of the Cheetah relocation project, died in Madhya Pradeshs Kuno National Park on Tuesday afternoon.

While the authorities want to fence a 28 km long stretch of the sanctuary in order to prevent trespassing, the villagers are afraid that it will affect their traditional grazing practices.

In a letter published in the journal Conservation Science and Practice on Thursday, researchers noted that as Kuno National Park is small, it is likely that the released animals will move far beyond the park's boundaries.

The South African team ran a rescue operation to catch the cheetah which was spotted in residential areas.
