Cautious approach being taken to ensure community safety
The Department of Health has advised today that it is taking a cautious approach to a previously confirmed case of COVID 19.
The case (1017) had completed quarantine at a State-run quarantine hotel.
The man was cleared of his infection based on national guidelines. He then completed a further three days to fulfill the requirements of his quarantine as an international arrival.
He is now 16 days after diagnosis.
He does not have a variant of concern and was previously vaccinated against COVID-19.
Post release the man was required to have a COVID-19 test for work purposes prior to boarding a vessel.

Goulburn Valley residents won’t have to travel to the doctor’s office to receive a COVID-19 vaccination this winter they’ll only have to find a nearby pharmacy.
Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt announced on Sunday that Australia’s approximately 5800 community pharmacies would be invited to participate in the delivery of the AstraZeneca COVID19 vaccine later this year.
Community pharmacies will be an important partner in the rollout of coronavirus vaccines alongside hospitals and GP offices doubling vaccine sites Australia-wide to 2000.
Avenel pharmacist Martin Sala from Avenel Pharmacy said he welcomed the decision to have the vaccine administered in pharmacies.
