Police officer charged after he tased ATV driver, causing him to crash, officials say Updated Mar 16, 2021; A Chesilhurst Police Officer violated state law last year when he tased an ATV driver, causing him to crash the vehicle, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday. Tyquan McIntosh, 28, of Minotola, was charged Monday with third-degree aggravated assault after he “purposely, knowingly, or recklessly caused significant bodily injury” to the driver by using excessive force against him during an arrest, according to a statement from the office. The incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2020 when McIntosh was on patrol and saw the unidentified 23-year-old man riding an unregistered ATV on public streets, the office said.

Camden Co Man Charged With Manslaughter After Assault Victim Dies

A man from Chesilhurst, Camden County, has been charged with manslaughter after a person he fought with back in January died from his injuries. Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Chesilhurst Police Chief Wendell Smith say 29-year-old Alexander Toussaint of Chesilhurst has been charged with one count of first-degree manslaughter and one count of third-degree aggravated assault. Officers responded to the 600 block of Edwards Ave. in Chesilhurst on Jan. 28 around 4:40 p.m. for a report of an injured man. When they arrived, they found the victim, identified as James Bates, 47, of Chesilhurst, unconscious on the ground. Witnesses told responding officers Bates had been in a fight with Toussaint. Bates was taken to an area hospital where he remained until he died on March 7.
