MOMENT OF MADNESS PHOTOS WILL CAUSE GLOBAL DAMAGE TO RACING

Just as horrid photos of shameful racing men straddling dead horses in Ireland has reached every corner of the planet via social media, the damage will be inflicted throughout the racing world.
It doesn’t matter that the images of champion trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Rob James whooping it up on these carcasses originated somewhere in Ireland, nor that they are dated – the James photo was apparently taken in 2016 – nor that Elliott and James are ashamed and remorseful.
People invested in racing might acknowledge these things, and that racehorses are mostly loved and protected, but to anyone beyond the fringe of the sport, the images are beyond context and location.
