Police bar students from besieging Home Ministry

A scuffle broke out between police and students in the capital when the latter were marching towards the Home Ministry to besiege it to press home their various demands including abolition of the Digital Security Act.
Other demands include investigation into the death of writer Mushtaq Ahmed in jail, release of their eight leaders and activists and withdrawal of cases filed against them.
Leaders and activists of the student bodies, including Bangladesh Chhatra Front, Chhatra Federation, started their march towards the Home Ministry around 12 pm from Raju Sculpture.
The scuffle took place when police restricted them near the secretariat. Then the protesters took position there and started sit-in.

Two separate protests took place on the Dhaka University campus today demanding justice for writer Mushtaq Ahmed s death in police custody.
Leaders of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front blamed the government for Mustaq s death from a rally held in front of Raju Memorial Sculpture in Dhaka University at 10:30am today. Writer Mushtaq has died in police custody. His death was unnatural and he was killed and the government is responsible for it, said Al Kaderi, president of the Front.
Meanwhile, leaders of a left-wing student group blocked Shahbagh intersection demanding justice for Mushtaq at 11:00am today.
