HE SAYS THE CITY IS PREPARED AND CONFIDENT MOVING FORWARD. HE NOTED THE CITY S GROWTH DURING THE PANDEMIC INCLUDING OPENING SEVERAL NEW RESTAURANTS, HOTELS, AND EVEN A MOVIE THEATER. HE SAYS THE CITY EVEN ENDED THE YEAR WITH A SURPLUS. WE ENDED 2020 WITH $10.4 MILLION IN CASH. HOW DID WE DO IT? WE DID IT THANKS TO AN ONGOING HEALTHY RAINY DAY FUND THAT WE STARTED BUILDING UP NINE YEARS AGO WHEN WE CAME INTO OFFICE SO WE WERE IN GREAT SHAPE TO MEET THE FISCAL DEMANDS OF COVID-19 WITHOUT JEOPARDIZING ESSENTIAL CITY SERVICES.
