According to police, the victim and suspect who have a 3yearold daughter together were driving in the area when at about 5 30 the victim got out of the car with the daughter. Ty brennan went out to the scene as crews battle the situation. Reporter the fire broke out at the scaup yard sending a huge plume of black smoke. Firefighters say it was difficult to get a handle on the fire because there is a lot of construction in the area and a lot of fire hydrants are not operating. This is the scene earlier today. The fire was at a scrap yard called we buy scrap. It was blaze. They called out a second alarm to make sure they had enough resources. They had two hazmat units on scene to be safe. The lack of working hydrants in the area was a bit of a hiccup. They were able to get the fire knocked out in half an hour. It is common for one or two hydrants are knocked out but we that it did not make a difference. Just a different challenge for us. Reporter a cause is being investigated.
