Well, Woodstock, we might be in for more flurries before we see any April showers: Chilly Charlie, Woodstockâs own Groundhog Day prognosticator, predicted six more weeks of winter Tuesday morning.
Chilly Charlie was at the South Gate Centre Tuesday morning with Mayor Trevor Birtch to hold the annual prediction for Groundhog Day. While the centre was forced to cancel its annual in-person pancake breakfast, the centre hosted a drive-thru takeout and invited residents to watch Charlieâs foretelling live on Facebook.

The South Gate Centre is hosting a drive-thru takeout pancake breakfast on Groundhog Day, Feb. 2,in compliance with COVID-19 restrictions on gathering sizes.
Last year’s event drew about 100 people to the South Gate Centre for breakfast and to witness Chilly Charlie’s prognostication. The South Gate Centre first began holding the event in 2003.
