Gripped by pandemic, 2020 sees peaks and valleys in entertainment

The year 2020 has been tough for everyone due to the spread of COVID-19. In the entertainment scene, TV shows were canceled or delayed and stars lost their chances to shine.
Comedian Park Ji-sun and her mother were found dead at their home, breaking hearts of her fans. She made others laugh but in her private life, she had been grappling with an unspeakable pain caused by a medical condition, which was severe enough for her to cut her life short.

Fast coronavirus antigen tests began in the greater Seoul area on Monday at temporary test facilities that were set up to deliver results in 30 minutes.
The tests are conducted with nasal swabs and results are displayed in the same way as pregnancy test kits. If the test is positive, another polymerize chain reaction (PCR) test will be conducted to confirm the result.
The speed of the antigen tests allows health authorities to quickly identify and quarantine coronavirus carriers who have no symptoms so as to minimize the risk of spreading it.
Health officials conducted 18 speed tests in Seoul and 261 in surrounding Gyeonggi Province on Monday.

Daily coronavirus infections surpassed 1,000 over the weekend as a bitter winter descended on the country. Some 1,030 cases were added on Sunday morning, the most since the outbreak of the epidemic here in January. On Monday morning the tally fell again to 718 cases, but that was probably because fewer tests were conducted over the weekend.
President Moon Jae-in said during a meeting with top health officials Sunday, If we do not stem the spread of infections now, we stand at a very critical moment of having to consider going into full lockdown. Be prepared to make a bold decision if the disaster headquarters deems it necessary. He admitted that such a move will entail unimaginable pain and damage and stressed that it would only be considered as a final option.
