Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced earlier this week that the process of the treated Fukushima water being discharged would begin on August 24.
Korean environmental activists condemned Thursday, the Japanese government s latest move to get rid of radioactive water from their own soil which is now stored at the tsunami-hit nuclear power plant in Fukushima. Filtered and planned for discharge into the Pacific Ocean within this year, the water, according to the Japanese government, has been tested for concentration levels of radioactive nuclides that would pollute the maritime environment.
