The Long Beach school safety officer who opened fire on a moving car filled with young people may have violated policy, according to documents obtained by The Times and several law enforcement experts.

The family of Mona Rodriguez, the mother of a 5-month old boy, wants the officer to be criminally charged.

Long Beach Unified bars its school safety officers from shooting at moving vehicles or at someone fleeing—both of which happened in this case, an attorney for the woman's family said.

Once regulators fully approve the vaccine for a given age group, students in both public and private schools will have to get it, Newsom said.
