The prospect of resurrecting the Ray D Arcy eye-roll was both thrilling and petrifying. What if it was rubbish? All those memories sullied. There are so many, it s easier to lump them together because, let s face it, not every American re-imagining of a sitcom turns out to be The Office on both sides of the Atlantic. Instead, we ve been left with a litany of questionable reincarnations of Skins, Cold Feet, Shameless, Men Behaving Badly, The IT Crowd and, saddest of all, a super sanitised Inbetweeners. It s not all a one-way street, however. The Upper Hand, anyone? Despite an inability to outshine Who s The Boss?, it still managed to last six seasons.
