Counties across northern and Central California will have their electricity shut off as a precaution starting just after midnight. Nearly 800,000 customers will be affected overall. Pg e is warning the people who arent in the shut off phone could still lose power because of the windy conditions. Lets take a look at the planned power shut off by numbers. As you can see the most affected area is Sonoma County with more than 66,000 being told they will lose power. The number of outages in marin county has not yet been announced. It is important to remember that not every customer in each county will experience a blackout. Henry lee begins our coverage and he is live with more on what the city and residents are doing to prepare for this. Reporter thousands of residents here could have their power cut off as early as midnight. Many here are getting ready and city officials are warning people that this power outage could last for days. Our meteorologist is tracking the winds that are causing so much concern. We begin with greatly who is in lafayette where people are scrambling to get ready and stocking up on needed supplies. More than 40,000 customers in Contra Costa County alone will lose power tonight and that includes in lafayette where people have been rushing to places like this ace hardware to make sure they are prepared for the outage. Once ron got word pg e would shut off his power, he left work early and rushedto the sto up and he wasnt alone. Several pallets of water completely empty. People are getting ready because the stores are more crowded than ever. The Police Departments estimate 21,000 customers will go dark in the marinda area.
