MCAs from Western are demanding Sh500,000 each to pass the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Constitutional (Amendment) Bill 2020.
They also want Sh2 million car grant given last week by the President released by Monday next week, failure to which they will not back the document.
According to the ward reps, the Election Act Section 22 must be amended to defer the commencement date of the mandatory requirement for MCAs to have degrees in 2022 or have it deleted all together.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed concerns about rising political intolerance and ethnic tensions, saying the actions by a few politicians do not bode well for the nation.
“The arrogance we see today by some of the political leaders seeking to lead the country after I retire is worrying. It has raised many challenges and leaves me wondering what future this country has” said President Kenyatta.
“The arrogance and hate will not help. Respect and humility is paramount. It is good to remind ourselves as a nation where we have come from, the journey we have travelled, and where we want to see this country in future.”

Members of the National Assembly yesterday voted for the reversal of Covid-19 tax reliefs in an attempt to fill empty government coffers.
But given the dire economic situation, it is not only the government that is desperate to recover from the havoc wrought onto an already strained economy when Covid-19 struck in March.
