A Midfield teen killed nearly two weeks ago was remembered Thursday night as a bright young man with a promising future.
Christian Dewayne Smith, 19, was shot to death Dec. 6 when he went to Center Point to pick up his younger sister she had been beaten up by someone there, according to his family. She called her big brother and he left work to go to her rescue. A short time later, he was dead in the middle of Second Street N.E.
“He just wanted to protect his sister,’ said his mother, Crystal Smith. “He was always protective of his brother and sister. He was just a good kid.”
