Hundreds of Future Urologists Celebrate Match Day

BALTIMORE, Feb. 1, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Earlier today, the Society of Academic Urologists (SAU) and the American Urological Association (AUA) announced the results of the 2021 Urology Residency Match (“the Urology Match”), the system through which U.S. medical students, and other applicants from around the world wishing to specialize in urology, learn where they will complete their residency.

This year’s Urology Match was another paramount year for females applying for, and matching, with urology programs, as a record-setting 120 of the 141 female participants (85 percent) matched with programs, compared to 105 of the 122 who matched last year.
NBC News gathered data to look at what has changed since March, when the virus closed nearly every school in the country. That data shows emergency rooms have seen a 24% increase in mental health-related visits from children ages 5 to 11 compared to last year. The increase among older kids is even higher, at 31%.
