Capt. Geoffry Patterson, fired last week from command of a guided-missile submarine, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol near Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base just days before his dismissal.
The fired captain s arrest occurred close to the Kings Bay naval submarine base, where he was stationed as commander of the heavily armed nuclear vessel.
The commanding officer of the USS Georgia sub's blue crew Capt. Geoffry Patterson was relieved by Rear Adm. Thomas Buchanan, "due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command," the Navy said.
