In my rush to wrap things up, we missed out reporting the contribution of another of the Empty Stocking Fund’s long-time supporters.
Bob (Sokko) Sokalski, the “not so silent” partner of the St. Norbert Hotel and one of the top legal eagles in the city, chipped in $500 which somehow got lost in the shuffle.

With Sokko’s contribution in hand, we can conclude this year’s campaign with a grand total of $114,235. In my first year taking the helm of the Empty Stocking Fund, I have to admit that I set out with hopes of matching last year’s total of just over $95,000 but there were times I doubted we would make it especially in these challenging times.

As with other restaurants and bars in the city, the Nob at the St. Norbert Hotel has had to close due to COVID-19 restrictions. But that hasn’t stopped Gerald Lambert and the Empty Stocking Fund’s friends there from doing what they can to help others that need support during the Christmas season.
The St. Norbert Hotel, which plays host to the annual Nog at the Nob fundraiser, had created a Gift Card program in support of the Christmas Cheer Board.
