Green River City Officials Encourage Safety When Floating River

GREEN RIVER Green River city officials are encouraging residents to use caution when floating the river this summer even with historic low flow levels. The City is asking people to particularly exercise caution near the diversion dam upstream from city limits. This diversion dam is next to the old Gorge Rock location. City Communications Administrator Steve Core says every year the Green River Fire Department responds to someone getting caught up in the river just below the dam. The force of the water going over the dam causes an undertow which can trap a person under the water. Advertisement - Story continues below.

Green River Police Department Has A New Buddy to Lean On

GREEN RIVER The Green River City Council approved a $6,000 grant on Tuesday night to purchase Buddy, a black Labrador Retriever, that will become the police department’s therapy canine. Buddy will be the first therapy police canine in the state of Wyoming, according to City Communications Administrator Steve Core. The City received the grant from the Children’s Trust Fund and Police Chief Tom Jarvie said several donations, including $1,250 made by nine-year-old Jason Barrera, have been received by the GRPD to help supplement the program.
