Note: The video above aired before the city declared how it would handle the midnight Friday deadline.Winston-Salem officials announced enforcement will not be used to remove individuals at a homeless encampment after the shutdown deadline at midnight Friday.In a wooded area near the corner of Akron Drive and Patterson Avenue is a homeless encampment where about 10 to 20 people lived as of Thursday. As of Friday, there are about 10 people still there, according to the Winston-Salem City Council.Activists said they want to see the city do more to help out the people living there while the city said their goal is to provide them housing. The city said so far they’ve managed to help multiple people who were living there move to the Cities with Dwellings winter shelter. Activists said the city needs to offer more resources.
