CHARLOTTE â Centralina Regional Council announced the recipients of the Region of Excellence Awards in a virtual ceremony Wednesday. Presented annually, these awards recognize individuals, communities and organizations for their outstanding achievements in support of Centralinaâs mission to expand opportunity and improve quality of life in the nine-county, Centralina region which includes Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly and Union counties.
âLocal governments nominated an innovative project, program, plan or individual that contributed to significant and positive advancements in the region this past yearâ said Geraldine Gardner, Centralina Regional Council executive director. âThe Region of Excellence Awards provides an excellent forum for county and community leaders to learn from best practices and to network with their peers in the region.â

(WBTV) - The City of Salisbury Communications Director Linda McElroy has been named the recipient of the Chris Coulson Communicator of the Year Award during the North Carolina City & County Communicatorsâ (NC3C) 2021 Excellence in Communications Awards virtual conference on Friday, April 31.
With more than 20 years of experience, McElroy has worked in industries including government, corporate communications, and travel and tourism. She has been employed with the City of Salisbury for five years. SALISBURY N.C. (WBTV) - From Cheerwine: Beginning today, Cheerwine fans young and old can submit their original artwork for a chance to have their design featured on the official 2021 Cheerwine Festival t-shirt to be sold and worn by thousands.
From now through July 1, fans can enter their submissions inspired by the 104-year-old soft drink at: cheerwine.com/festival-contest/. A panel of judges, chosen by the Cheerwine Festival committee, will select the best five eligible entries to be voted on by the public. The winning design will be announced in early August.
