Mr. Thompson if that freshwater doesnt run through and to the ocean the saltwater runs back in. I have two major cities in my district that relies on that for the source of water. If this bill passes, their water supply is in jeopardy. You cant drink salts water. It just doesnt work. California is in the middle of an extreme drought. Its not due to a lack of pumping. Its not because our states water regulations and its not because were putting fish ahead of farms and people. Its because theres n...

I was publisher of the wall street journal. I spent quite some time overseeing the Digital Businesses of the journal. I consider myself, in fact, maybe the oldest possible digital native. I oversaw businesses that were based on what we then called electronic publishing even before the internet in the 1990s, so i lived in a time before the internet, before Technology Policy was aimed at encouraging innovation back in the 80s and 9s 90s and before government was heavily involved in regulating comm...

Kerry about the consequences of Congress Voting down this deal. I heard the frustration that the idea is that there is no choice. In fact, i hear you say the opposite. I hear you say that this is not, in fact, a referendum on this deal. This is a choice between two set of consequences a set of consequences that flow forward if we arrive the deal, and then a different set that flows norward if Congress Rejects this deal. And so, as i look at that second set of consequences, that we have to be ful...

A snap back without the sanctions in place . It would be very powerful with or without it. The embargo. Youre right. I can read you. No, no. Wet, have separate resolutions and we have separate regimes that applyth to them, for instance is a very powerful instrument. With United Nations language, do you believe israel is safer eight years with the embargo lifted than it is today . Theres no question in my mind. With the ability to put all other siendz of sanctions in place, u. N. Resolutions appl...

Behavior, by holding out the prospect of relief if the worlds concerns were addressed. Once the iaea verifies that iran has taken key steps to rollback its Nuclear Program and extend its breakout time to at least one year, sanctions relief would come into effect. There is no signing bonus. To be clear, there will be no immediate changes to you in, eu, or u. S. Sanctions. Only if iran fulfills the necessary nuclear conditions will be u. N. Suspend secondary sanctions on a limited basis. Of course...

That is part of what this vote would be. We dont trust that, it was no way iran could come under it. The consequences of this are even more than what you laid out. Here is what else happens but better on politics long enough, i have a pretty good sense a lot of people were opposing this before it was announced before they read it. If this does not meet congresses approval, and iran goes back to enriching, you can hear the cry now. What are we going to do about it . You hear the Prime Minister of...

Of broadcasteakout time. Breakout time in arms control is the time it takes to get a weapon. We have been dealing only with the amount of time it takes to get enough fissile material to produce one weapon. You still have to produce the weapon and most people dont guesstimate that a country is going to be satisfied with only one weapon and enough fissile material for one. Theres a lot of time beyond that. Weve been operating with a huge safety cushion here, and well have one year of broadcasteako...

To take out the facilities and who has actually deployed that weapon, but iran has already mastered the fuel cycle. They have mastered the ability to produce significant stockpiles of fissile material and you cant bomb away that knowledge any more than you can sanction it away. I was chair of the committee when we a lot of us joined together and put most of the iran sanctions in place, and i know well as you do that the whole point was to bring iran to the negotiating table. Even the toughest sa...
