Greek Civil Protection Deputy Minister
Nikos Hardalias on Tuesday reiterated the need for all citizens this holiday season to follow the government’s safety and health measures taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in Greece.
“It is necessary to continue to be very careful, so as not to risk facing a new outbreak of the pandemic after the holidays,” the deputy minister said during the Covid-19 briefing on Tuesday.
This year there will be no big Christmas or New Years celebrations nor will gatherings of large groups of people be allowed, Hardalias reminded.
“Just as we spent a different Easter, this Christmas will also be different,” he added.

Greek authorities on Friday gave clarifications on the new restrictions for crossing the country’s land borders. The measures have been announced in response to high numbers of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases recorded in northern Greece.
According to Civil Protection Deputy Minister
Nikos Hardalias, the latest data reveals that the epidemiological burden has not decreased in Greece – despite the imposed lockdown – and especially in the northern part of the country.
“This makes it necessary to take measures to limit the spread of the virus and to protect public health,” Hardalias said, adding that movement contributes significantly to the spread of Covid-19.
