The third casualty, a 71-year-old man, died on March 8 – four days after getting vaccinated. Prior to him, two deaths following inoculation with the CoronaVac jab were reported. These deaths only served to fuel doubts and anxiety regarding the vaccine’s use in the special administrative region.
The man was reportedly in good health prior to getting the shot.
The two earlier patients who died after vaccination had underlying health conditions. The first victim was a 63-year-old man who died Feb. 28, two days after getting the vaccine. Later, a 55-year-old woman died on March 6 – four days after she got the jab.

The online booking system for Covid-19 vaccinations experienced a surge of interest on Tuesday morning as Hong Kong widened the scheme to residents aged 30 and above.
Those seeking appointments through the website encountered waiting times of between 10 and 30 minutes on the first day of the expanded inoculation drive.
The booking rush came as the city was expected on Tuesday to log about 20 new Covid-19 cases, according to a medical source.

The system requires applicants to enter their name, identity document number and the group under which they are eligible for the doses, such as “persons aged 30 years or above”.

A Hong Kong expert team said Monday that they deemed that the second death case in the city following vaccination of Sinovac vaccines was not related to the vaccine as the autopsy report showed that the cause of death of the recipient, a 55-year-old woman, was myocardial infarction and she had an aortic laceration.
