The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), on Thursday, said that evaluation criteria for Class 12 students are under consideration and it would take up to two weeks to arrive at a final decision on how to grade students. “If students are not satisfied with the evaluation process, then an option of re-exam will be available for them after COVID,” CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi was quoted as saying by ANI. On Wednesday, the Centre cancelled Class 12 board examinations because of the public health risk amid the Covid-19 pandemic. CBSE as well as other state education boards will now come up with revised criteria for evaluating the academic performance of Class 12 students.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting on Tuesday evening to deliberate upon conducting CBSE Class 12 board examinations amid the Covid-19 pandemic, a news report said. Others present at the meeting will brief the PM on all options because of the extensive discussions with all states and other stakeholders, ANI quoted government sources as saying. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday appealed to Central Government to cancel board exams for Class 12 students and to assess the students based on their past performance. Children and parents are very worried about the 12th examination. They want that without vaccination, 12th examination should not be held. I appeal to the central government that the 12th examination should be cancelled. They should be assessed on the basis of past performance , the tweet read.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday (April 14) cancelled the Class 10 exams and postponed the Class 12 Board examinations in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases. Following the CBSE s decision, several other state boards including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Punjab, Haryana, among others have also cancelled or postponed the exams.

Amid a massive surge in COVID-19 cases, keeping in mind the safety of students and teachers, several states including Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Maharashtra have postponed Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. While students, parents, among others are requesting the Centre to postpone the CBSE classes 10 and 12 Board exams scheduled to begin in May, several states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh have already postponed the state board exams.
