1/1 POLICE are investigating after residents were evacuated from a block of flats in Weymouth after a suspicious fire broke out in the early hours. A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life following the blaze at the property in Clayton Close, Littlemoor, at around 12.25am yesterday. Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said a fire broke out in an electrical fuse box in the communal area of the block of flats. Three fire engines from Weymouth and Dorchester fire stations were called to the scene and firefighters extinguished the blaze using two breathing kits, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.

Police appeal to find next of kin of Trafford man Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace the family of a man from the Old Trafford area of Manchester. Riaz Rio, 83, passed away at his home on Clayton Close, Old Trafford on Saturday 26 December 2020. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. It is believed he may have family living or possibly working in the South Manchester area. 1/1 A Weymouth woman has told of her family s devastation after their car was set alight outside their home in Littlemoor during the early hours of the morning. Millie Garbutt, 21, said the community was in shock following the suspected arson attack, in which the car appeared to have been rolled out of its parking space, causing the flames to spread to three other vehicles belonging to her neighbours. Police are investigating the fires which wrecked the vehicles in Clayton Close early on Sunday – no arrests have yet been made. It s awful, Millie said.
