PARIS (dpa-AFX) - French author Annie Ernaux, 82, has won the Nobel Prize in Literature.Announcing the laureate for 2022 on Thursday, Mats Malm, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy, said

Erneaux is known for her semi-autobiographical works. The permanent secretary noted her "clinical acuity" in examining personal memory.

The Nobel Prize in literature is awarded by the Swedish Academy, Stockholm, Sweden.

The French author is the 17th woman to win the prize

The 82-year-old writer is best known for works defending equal rights for women.
