Those were just the beginning of things that are set to come in the coming months and year at Death Valley.The first thing that most fans noticed when they walked into the stadium this season was the new 126-foot wide, 56.5-foot tall (nearly 7,200 square feet) videoboard. It is the eighth largest in the NCAA and second largest in the ACC, and it includes a new speaker array sound system. The main videoboard is almost five times the size of the previous one, which stood 62-feet wide and 25-feet tall (1,550 square feet). The two videoboards on the west side of the stadium were also replaced.The videoboard’s resolution is among the best in the nation, offering a bright, clear picture on over 6.4 million pixels. GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wayne Jenkins and Barbara Kennedy-Dixon have been named Clemson’s recipients of the 2022 ACC UNITE Award, which was created in 2021 to honor individuals affiliated with the league who have made an impact in the areas of racial and social justice. In addition to being the ACC’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder - man or woman - Kennedy-Dixon served Clemson with distinction for more than 30 years as a coach and administrator prior to her passing in 2018. Jenkins enrolled at Clemson in the Fall of 1969 as a member of the Track & Field team, making him one of the first two African American student-athletes at Clemson, joining Craig Mobley (Basketball) that semester. Mobley earned the UNITE award in 2021, and it was later confirmed that Jenkins enrolled in the same academic semester. Cookie Blakney, the first women’s athlete of color, was also honored in 2021. CLEMSON, S.C. - Former Clemson three-time All-American Rusty Adkins will be honored during a pregame ceremony at the Boston College game at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on May 20. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.In 2021, Adkins became the first former Tiger player to be inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in Lubbock, Texas. That ceremony took place virtually on June 26. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Clemson program was unable to honor Adkins with an on-campus ceremony last year.Adkins played for the Tigers from 1965-67 (freshmen were ineligible during that era), and he became the first three-time All-American in Clemson history. Current Arizona Diamondback Seth Beer joined him in that exclusive club in 2018.Adkins was a second-team All-American as a sophomore in 1965, when he hit a home run for his first career hit and batted .444 for the season.
