DeKalb mayor and Democrat Cohen Barnes announced Friday he’ll seek office in 2024 as the next State Representative for the 76th Illinois House District, currently held by Democrat Lance Yednock who won’t seek reelection.

DeKalb County voter turnout came in at 10% Tuesday, according to data released by the DeKalb County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. That’s compared to 9.83% in the last consolidated election in April 2019 and 14.59% in 2021.
