Call for crews to be allowed work overtime to repair and maintain roads Published: Tuesday, 06 April 2021 14:13
Mayo County Council crews should be allowed work overtime to repair and maintain roads across the region.
That’s according to Fine Gael councillor Gerry Coyle, who called for the ban on overtime to be lifted to avoid the county falling behind on road repairs.
He says that all roads are essential and argued that works should be allowed resume, following the publication of new figures which show only 0.1% of Covid-19 cases were transmitted outside.
The Geesala-based cllr says essential workers’ cars risk being punctured on their way to work because of the current state of some roads and he says they fear failing their NCT tests as a result.
