Fresh calls have been made for speed restrictions through a Northumberland hamlet. Thursday, 4th February 2021, 7:00 am Belford Parish Council wants the 60mph speed limit through Middleton to be halved following the latest accident when a car crashed into a wall. “Something needs to be done about it,” said Cllr Kerry Noble, who said it was the fourth accident he could remember there. He suggested a 30mph speed limit from the East Lodge gate to beyond the Swinhoe crossroads or a 40mph zone from the top of the North Bank to the A1. Middleton, near Belford. He said: I know Northumberland County Council say it doesn’t fall within the priorities but, as a parish council, surely we’re entitled to make the suggestion given how many times it has been brought up.

Popular Seahouses footpath resurfaced after complaints from public

Updated The work at St Aidan’s in Seahouses was carried out by Northumberland County Council. Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson, Bamburgh ward member on Northumberland County Council, said: “Following complaints from the public and seeing the poor state of the pavement along St Aidan’s in Seahouses, I added it to my requests for resurfacing.” He added: “It’s great to see the work is now done, making it much safer and easier to walk on.” Cllr Guy Renner-Thompson on the resurfaced St Aidan s footpath in Seahouses.
