Blackpool Tip Residents have been urged to use licensed waste carriers in a council’s new fly-tipping campaign. Blackpool Council is urging residents to use a licensed waste carrier in their new campaign, Know Where It Goes. Over the past year, 5,410 fly-tipping incidents have been reported across the town, relating to household waste discarded on roads, pavements, alleyways, parks, and fields. The council say it’s important that residents are aware they have a legal obligation to make sure their waste is disposed of correctly by taking all reasonable measures to avoid fly-tipping - even once the waste has left their property.
A brand new £10m affordable housing redevelopment has welcomed some of its first new tenants. Angela and Mark Short along with their two children, Jemma, 17, and Declan 18, have just moved into one of the new build homes that have been completed during phase one of works at Troutbeck Crescent, in Mereside, Blackpool, which has seen nine properties released for occupancy. The scheme will ultimately offer a total of 75 modern, affordable, high quality social housing rented homes to replace the original six three-storey blocks of flats that were on the site. Developed by Blackpool Council, the scheme is set to deliver 27 two bed houses, 18 three-bed houses, two three-bed accessible houses, nine two-bed accessible houses and 19 one-bedroom apartments.
