First physical IDP meeting held without glitches in Region D

The City of Johannesburg hosted its first physical IDP, Budget and tariffs consultation meeting with the community of Soweto at the Orlando Communal Hall on Wednesday afternoon, 14 April 2021.
Due to Covid-19 Regulations, the City decided to conduct this year’s consultations virtually, physically and using the hybrid model.
Residents in attendance were reminded that no more than 200 people are allowed in the venue in line with the regulations.
Present at the meeting was the Speaker of Council, Cllr Nonceba Molwele, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Geoffrey Makhubo, the MMC for Environment Infrastructure and Service, Cllr Mpho Moerane, Chairperson of EISD Section 79 Committee, Cllr Matshidiso Mfikoe and the Regional Director, Ms. Salome Ngobese.
Bulk infrastructure to be rolled out in Ivory Park

The quality of service delivery in Ivory Park will get much-deserved improvement when the City rolls out bulk infrastructure there in the next three financial years.
A lion’s share of the money allocated to Ivory Park from June 2021 will go towards constructing tarred roads, stormwater drains and increasing water distribution networks as well as reliable electrical connections.
Speaker of Council, Cllr Nonceba Molwele says the City will partner with the community of Ivory Park on these development projects to enhance the quality of life in the area.
One resident comments: “We are very happy to hear such great news from the City and we look forward to seeing the change we need.”

As a democratic society, the City of Johannesburg must ensure that in all that it does to improve the lives and livelihood of its citizens and as local government it does not leave its communities behind but listens and endeavours to service their needs.
This is how the Speaker of Council, Councillor Nonceba Molwele, kicked off proceedings during a virtual public meeting on rates with stakeholders and residents last week.
The City has been holding virtual public meetings public participation from 9 February until 5 March 2021 to get residents’ views on the rates policy. So far the response of attendance digitally is commendable. Seventeen sessions are still to take place in all the regions where some wards were left for later.
