Investigation underway into fire at Brideview United in Tallow

Photo Credit: Brideview Utd, Facebook Gardaí are investigating a fire in the Townparks East area of Tallow, County Waterford. The incident took place at the Brideview United’s Leonard Fraser Park grounds at around 3:15am. Emergency services attended the scene which is currently preserved for technical examination. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident and no arrests have yet been made. Tallow Cllr John Pratt says the club’s changing rooms have been gutted. “It’s a terrible situation here locally I actually live in the estate adjacent to the soccer pitch. “It’s a tough time for anyone and one section is completely gutted – it’s devastating especially at a time when we are due to return to sport,” Cllr Pratt said.

Mercer Hall COUNCILLORS have backed the remodelling of the forecourt at Mercer Hall in Great Harwood. Hyndburn Council Planning Committee approved the changes to the historic building despite concerns from Baxenden ward s Cllr Kath Pratt whey were premature . She said that in view of the proposals to decommission as a sports centre and swimming pool as part of a multi-million pound leisure review it would be better to defer consideration of the application, Cllr Pratt said that scaffolding and other works necessary for the re-purposing of the building could damage the new forecourt, She said: We should wait. I think this would be wasting money.
