Hinkley Point C power station BRIDGWATER Town Council said it will ‘co-ordinate a response’ with the district council to EDF’s plans to increase its peak workforce at Hinkley Point C (HPC) by more than 50% once coronavirus measures are lifted. Last week, EDF announced it aims to increase the number of workers on the HPC site from 5,600 people to 8,500 people. It said any increase will only happen once coronavirus restrictions have been lifted and the focus of the project right now is on the safety of the local community and workforce. But at a special town council meeting on Thursday (February 7) councillors said the changes will put ‘an inevitable pressure’ on rented accommodation.
