Rhode Island lawmakers are mulling whether to regulate the automated license plate reading cameras that are typically used by law enforcement to solve crimes.

The cameras have been controversial. Some have worried the cameras would be placed in minority neighborhoods, while Lexington police have said they are placed throughout the city based on crime data.

An arrest was made Sunday in connection with the attempted homicide of a juvenile in Hollister.

A Jeffersonville man was arrested Friday after he allegedly robbed a bank in Clarksville last week.

The public safety program is expanding to Hardin County Schools, with plans to install 20 new flock cameras on or around school campuses.

On Nov. 9, the Loganville City Council unanimously approved the purchase and installation of 10 Flock cameras.

The Arnold Police Department will lease three more Flock license plate-reading cameras, adding additional traffic surveillance in the city.
