Amazon India to start manufacturing electronics in the country

Amazon India today announced it would start manufacturing electronic products in the country. To begin with, Amazon is going to start manufacturing Amazon Fire TV stick from India, reads a statement issued by the Indian Ministry for Electronics and Information Technology, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
The statement said Amazon India s announcement came after Indian Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Communications and Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad held a virtual meeting with Amit Agarwal, Amazon s global senior vice president and country head for India.

Amazon to produce devices in India
Reiterating its commitment to the Government of India s Make in India initiative for an Atmanirbhar Bharat, Amazon will start manufacturing Amazon devices in India later this year. Catering to the domestic demand, the e-commerce giant will commence manufacturing of Fire TV Stick at contract manufacturer Cloud Network Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn in Chennai later this year.
