District 5 Eveleth area
Conservation Officer Darrin Kittelson (International Falls 1) reports fishing and boating pressure continues to increase on Rainy Lake as the summer moves forward.
A report of a mat of floating cattails that are blocking the main channel of the Rat Root River near the Rat Root Lake was investigated. Animal-related complaints and wetland issues were also looked into.
CO Curtis Simonson (International Falls 2) reports checking anglers and monitoring recreational boating activity on Rainy Lake. ATV activity was monitored in the area as well. Enforcement action taken this week was for no license in possession; not having a Type IV throwable device; operating ATVs without headlights; and youth operation without helmets.

District 1 – Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked anglers on Lake of the Woods and the Roseau River. Angling success has been fair on both the lake and river. Illegal-length walleyes encountered on Lake of the Woods.
CO Aaron Larson (Baudette) worked primarily angling enforcement on Lake of the Woods. Time was also spent at Zippel Bay State Park enforcing park rules.
CO Ryan Brown (Karlstad) reports fishing on Lake Bronson continues to be slow. Brown presented to a third-grade class in Thief River Falls about Minnesota mammals with CO Woinarowicz.
CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls) investigated a wildfire and monitored area angling activity. Enforcement action for the week included burning without the required permit, no helmet on juveniles on ATVs, unregistered ATV, no ATV safety training and an open alcohol container on an ATV on a public roadway.

District 1 – Baudette area
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) checked anglers on Lake of the Woods and the Roseau River. A joint detail was worked with the U.S. Coast Guard. A complaint was taken about a possible wolf depredation, and a state trapper was set up to trap in the area north of Badger.
CO Marc Johnson (Warroad) primarily worked angling activity on Lake of the Woods and ATVing enforcement. He also monitored public accesses. In addition, time was spent investigating dredging activity and a partially sunken boat at a local marina.
CO Corey Sura (Baudette) worked angling activity on Upper Red Lake, Lake of the Woods, and the Rainy River. Time was spent investigating a minnow-trapping complaint, assisting volunteers with a local ATV safety class, and participating in a kids fishing event with fifth- and sixth-grade students from Kelliher.
