Minnesota United coach Adrian Heath acknowledged to reporters Thursday that recently signed midfielder Franco Fragapane is the Loons player who allegedly directed a racial slur at Timbers star Diego Chara in the game Saturday at Portland.
In answering a question about Major League Soccer s ongoing investigation into the matter, Heath said his club was carrying on as normal while they await the league s conclusions. I ll repeat what I said: Fraga vehemently denies he did it and we believe him, Heath said.
Fraga is a nickname for the left-side attacker who has scored twice in his first three games. He received consecutive MLS team of the week honors since he was acquired from Argentina s Boca Juniors team.

Minnesota United FC made a splash this morning, one that the #FreeChacón fans might be happy or entirely displeased with. The Loons have loaned out the 20 year old young Designated Player for the 2021 season. Thomás Chacón will head back to his native Uruguay on a full season loan deal to play for Primera División side Liverpool Fútbol Club. Following the end of the 2021 season Liverpool will have an option to buy Chacón from MNUFC.
Chacón came up through Danubio Fútbol Club’s system and would see his first Primera División action for the side in 2017. Through parts of three seasons of sporadically appearing with Danubio’s senior squad he would make 20 appearances between 2017 and 2019.
